Saturday morning started the weekend with a ray of sunshine on the High Street. Crowds, shows and performers had flocked to bask in the brightness that takes some people by surprise.
But alas in the skies above our heads there was menace afoot. Dark clouds were gathering. Those sunglasses of the morning would turn to umbrellas as if touched by some magical force.
The Edinburgh hardcore tourists and residents will brave all weathers; it is Edinburgh, it is the Fringe and what more can you expect.
The moto everywhere is "the show must go on."
And in all weathers in Edinburgh it normally does.
